Health Medical and Dental

The University is a world leader in health education and research. We seek to improve health care in Australia and internationally.

You may wish to consider supporting a broad area of research or program, for example, cancer research – or there may be a specific program you want to support. We welcome the opportunity to work with you to align your gift with the area that resonates most strongly with you.

With a strong emphasis on fostering exciting, diverse and impactful research, our health researchers conduct cutting edge, transformative investigations that generate new insights and deliver real health outcomes to the community.

  • Cancer research and health

The Centre brings together a team of world-leading researchers with strengths in blood cancers and solid tumours, particularly breast, lung, sarcomas and melanoma, with a focus on treatment options tailored to the individual.

This research program strives to improve disease outcomes for men with prostate cancer and women with breast cancer by deeply understanding how sex hormones control tumour behaviour.

  • Neuroscience and brain health

Using our unique cerebral palsy family DNA biobank and clinical database, we are performing new generation sequencing on families with CP-affected children to uncover genetic changes in individual patients and whether these unique changes contributed to cerebral palsy.

Every 10 minutes someone in Australia suffers a stroke, making it the leading cause of disability in our country. All gifts made to the Peter Couche Stroke Research Fund of the University of ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Êý¾Ý will support cutting edge stroke research. The fund will continue a mission to advance stroke research, fellowships and scholarships, with a goal to raise $5 million in support of an academic chair in stroke research at the University.
